Obituary of Opal Lazelle

Opal (Earlene) Lazelle, 71, Rainier, died peacefully November 21, 2006, at her home which she shared with her loving husband Don. She was born November 4, 1935 in Fanin County Texas to Luther and Opal McEuen. They moved to Washington when she was a teen, Earlene married, stayed in Washington, and raised her family. She loved the outdoors including fishing and fair weather clam-digging, sight-seeing, hummingbirds, flowers, gardening of all types, winning at the casinos, reading, country music, spending time with the love of her life and her family. She was our loving Mom; a hot tempered redhead; “Granny” to her grandchildren; the boss; loving wife and friend; a strong spirit; a big sister. We will all miss her dearly, she was deeply loved. Earlene is survived by her husband Don Lazelle of Rainier; two sisters, three brothers, numerous nieces and nephews in Texas; her six children, Leonard Thompson (Cindy) of Naches, Donna Livingood (Richard) of Olympia, Diane DeTray (Dana) of Puyallup, Debbie Sampley (Lonnie Peterson) of Olympia, Robert Hess of Olympia, Darla Gehrke (Larry) of Olympia, 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. The family is planning a private memorial, in lieu of flowers please donate to Toys for Tots, or the Union Gospel Mission in Olympia.
