Obituary of Frederick Leroy Layton

Frederick Leroy Layton Frederick Layton , an Olympia resident for over 50 years, passed away January 24, 2011, in Olympia, WA, after a valiant 6-year battle with lung cancer. He was 77. Fred was born July 7, 1933, to Antone and Charlotte Layton in Pacific Grove, CA. A central office technician with US West, he was married to Shirley Wright (deceased). He married his lifelong friend Mary Hansen in 1975. Fred loved sailing, RV travel, amateur (ham) radio, and stained-glass art. He was past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, founding president of Olympia Volkswagen Club, founding president of Capital Peak Repeater Group, and past commander of the Olympia Power Squadron. Fred is survived by his wife Mary; sons, Kenneth Layton and Eugene Layton; stepsons, Bruce Adams and Jeff Adams; daughter, Marie Holts; stepdaughter, Kelly Adams; brother, George Layton; and sister, Charleen Oscar.
