Obituary of Mark Larsen

NA Mark Abbott Larsen Mark was born in Olympia, Washington December 3rd, 1955 to Thomas and Ruby Larsen. He was born two years after his older brother Michael, on the same day. Two years later his sister Melinda was born. They spent several years growing up in Olympia around extended family. In the early sixties Thomas’s work moved them to Southern California. It was there that Mark went to several elementary schools where he played Pop Warner football and Little League. In 1968 they moved back to the Scott Lake area of Olympia where his Grandma and Grandpa Urlocker lived. Aside from a year in Arizona during high school he spent most of his teenage years in Scott Lake where he purchased and wrecked his first Volkswagen bug. After high school Mark spent a year at Central Washington University but when he found that there was no money in college he decided to go and work with the labor union doing commercial and heavy construction with his dad. In 1981 Mark came back to Olympia and met Lynnie. They were married March 19, 1983 in Tahoe, Nevada. Mark adopted Lynnie’s daughter Marcie and the couple was blessed with another daughter Kate April 5th, 1985. They raised their family in the Hawks Prairie area of Olympia where Mark worked with family and close friends as a framer. In 1992 Mark remodeled the family home. Mark had a love for all things sports. He ran regularly and participated in many races over the years. He also was a member of The Brooklyn Five and bowled weekly at Tumwater Lanes. When he wasn’t working on the job or at home you would find him enjoying whatever sporting program he could on TV. His love of sports translated into his three favorite hobbies, running, bowling, and golf. Mark was a family man and spent the majority of his time with his wife, daughters, son-in-law and friends. He is survived by his wife Geralyn "Lynnie" Larsen, daughters Marcie and Kate Larsen, son-in-law Benjamin Brunner, father & step mother Thomas and Judy Larsen, mother and step father Ruby and Don Whitten, brother and sister-in law Michael and Lynn Larsen, sister and brother-in-law Melinda and Jim Connell, and brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, beloved pets Dottie and Duncan, and grand puppies Sanchez and Lulu.
