Obituary of Wanda Joy Lanahan

Wanda Joy Lanahan Wanda Joy Lanahan (Asbury), 80 of Lacey, WA, died Monday, Oct 15 2007 at her home. Mrs. Lanahan was born 11 April 1927 in Iaeger, West Virginia to Lacy & Amelia Asbury. She graduated from Big Creek High School in Mar, West Virginia in 1945. On February 28, 1958 she married Albert Lanahan in Las Cruces, New Mexico who preceded her in death. Wanda Joy served in the U.S. Army Women’s Army Corps (WAC) from 1954-1960. While in the Army she served as an Operating Room Scrub Nurse and later became an LPN. In 1973 she joined the Army Reserves where she attained the rank of Sergeant First Class and held the position of Ward Master for various wards, retiring in 1987. Wanda Joy also had 20 years of distinguished service with the civil service as an LPN at Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX. She lived in El Paso TX for over 30 years until she became ill and moved in with her daughter Karen L. Davis. She is survived by her son, Keith W. Lanahan, daughter, Karen L. Davis and grandson, Kyle J. Davis all of Lacey, WA; granddaughters, Amber and Alicia Lanahan of El Paso, TX; and sisters, Dorothy Harding of Amarillo, TX and Kay Bailey of Grand Blanc, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her eldest son Kevin L. Lanahan. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:15 PM Monday, October 22, 2007 at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, Washington.
