While reading past news of the Olympia Friendship Force 25th Anniversary dinner we saw a memory board filled with pictures of the Kuulas. They were a smart, kind, fun couple. We once "played hooky" with them in Taipei when we skipped part of the National Treasures Museum tour for a much needed coffee break. John had a good sense of humor and a great smile. Our much belated condolences to the family.

John is our Uncle. His wife Gloria and Jim's father were brother and sister. We too have many memories and stories to remember each of them by, and will miss both of them greatly.
We want to thank many of you friends, classmates, students, fellow teachers, co-workers, neighbors, doctors, nurses, therapists, caregivers and all for being such a great part of their lives and bringing them such joy.
Thank you to all who attended John's memorial service, and the many kind thoughts you have passed our way. We appreciate all you have done to make their lives richer.

We were privileged to have had many wonderful days teaching with John and Gloria in Mossyrock. Since it was a small community the teaching staff was respected and made welcome. John had a fine sense of humor and was a dedicated teacher. A few years ago we enjoyed a day with some of the students who were celebrating a class reunion and John and Gloria were there with us. We had time to catch up on the current news and also to remember the fine days we had in Mossyrock. He was a wonderful friend.

John was my uncle and my father's youngest broher. We have many great memories of John & Gloria over the years at family gathering or as a guest at their home. We got to spend a week with them a couple years ago when they visited us in Las Vegas. We had a great time together seeing all the sites. John & Gloria loved to travel. We stayed in touch to the end by phone and I enjoyed his stories and will be very sad that he is gone. We will keep him in our memory for many years to come.

I want eveyone to know how much the Clays did to look after both John and Gloria over the past year plus. Besides moving them from Vista Village to Woodland, they looked after Gloria all the time that she was in Mother Joseph, looked after John and his affairs, and just did every thing that they could to make the transitions and changes that the Kuulas were going through go as smoothly as possible.
I took John out to run his errands the morning before he died. We stopped at Starbucks on the way home and he was bright and cheerful. He did miss Gloria terribly.
But he was doing very well that day......I am so glad that I was able to see him like that before he passed away.

I just learned today of Mr. Kulla's passing. Mrs. Kuula was my Home Econimics teacher at Timberline and Mr. Kuula was one of my Home Room teachers. My heart goes out to those who knew and loved John and Gloria. I've known them both most of my life, they made the world a brighter place by just being in it.

How shocked and saddened we were to read the paper. A double tragedy in your family. Your parents were special and very delightful.
They will certainly be missed. Our hearts go out to you.
With much sincerity.

Jim and family:
So sorry to read in today's paper that John died. We're just talking that we needed to get over there and see him again. I know he missed Gloria terribly.
We are so blessed to have known them over the past 40 years. Both of them were very special people. We loved hearing all about their many trips.
God Bless and keep you.
