Obituary of Betty J. King

Betty J. King Betty was born to Louise (Blake) and Edward Farrell on December 31, 1917, in Olympia, WA. Betty raised her family and worked most of her adult life in Seattle. She and her husband returned to her family home at Black Lake in Olympia upon her mother's death. Betty and her husband worked part-time for Morningside and enjoyed working with the handicapped. Betty particularly enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her brother Lloyd Farrell; daughters Janice Lee (Gehring) Jackson (of Bothell) and Susan Jane (Stradley) Ponsteen (of Lacey); sons Kelly Edward King (of Kirkland) and Barry W. Gehring (of Seattle); six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and, a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Betty was preceded in death in 1996 by her husband of over 40 years, George Francis King. She had previously been married to Jack W. Gehring and Arthur E. Stradley. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at noon Friday, June 12, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Olympia with a graveside to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Tumwater.
