Obituary of Mary Jane Kime

Mary Jane Kime 3/9/1920 – 7/24/2011 Daughter of Eric and Edna (Burr) Rich of Seattle, Washington, Mary Jane was a graduate of Franklin High School and a long-time resident of Seattle. She also lived in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; Lake Tahoe, Nevada; and for the past 18 years, Olympia, Washington. During WWII, she worked for Army Intelligence at the Boeing plant in Renton, Washington, where she met John L. Kime to whom she was married for 25 years. She worked for Harrah’s Casino in Lake Tahoe for several years and as a merchandiser for American Greetings in Olympia. Mary Jane was a woman with many nicknames. When she was born, she was called Bubbles, which forever became Bubs to family members. To almost everyone else, she was Buzz. Her brothers, Stan and Len Rich and her sister, Betty Phillips, who all preceded her in death, made for a high decibel but good natured family. Her brothers were easily capable of finishing off a 25-pound turkey and a fifth of bourbon at a sitting, but she hardly took notice. Everyone’s first memory of her is her laughter and her amazing ability to tell a story. She was one of the world’s best entertainers and best cooks. She always loved to be surrounded by friends and family. Everyone also remembers her loud and demanding Siamese cats that had the run of the house and furniture. Mary Jane leaves one son, Jonathan Eric Kime, and daughter-in-law Debrah Kime, both of Olympia; two much loved grandsons, Matthew Kime of Oceanside, California, and Alexander Kime of Chicago, Illinois; as well as niece, Linda Rich Meeker, and nephews, Ron Logan, Steve Rich, Perry Phillips, Rey Phillips, and Casey Rich; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Niece, Peggy Rich Bean, preceded her in death. It is the family's suggestion, for those who wish to commemorate her life, that they should follow her example and enjoy a dinner with loved ones and make sure to include a nice bottle of Champagne.
