Your grandson Hunter is the spitin image of you, course just like his mother Rhianna Lynn Thompson your daughter. Very sad that she was not mentioned like Teddi in your obituary. Her and Teddi knew each other well. Rest In Peace Leland,

Dad, i miss you so much and am always thinking of you. I'm so glad we got to know each other better in the last years, and am so glad that you got to meet Hailee and hold her a few times, i so wish that she could have gotten to know you. Your picture is next to our bed and Hailee always gives you a kiss and asks where you are. And how can she ever get to see you. I tell her, when shes sleeping you will come to her in her dreams and take her riding and go flyiing in the nite. That you are the bright stars shining at nite, you are the winds that blow, the diamond glints on the snow. i know your here and always in our hearts. So tonite we rest are heads thinking of you. Waiting to come to us in our dreams. I love you Daddy and miss you so. Love always Teddi and Hailee

My Leland, You are so special and I'm so proud to have you as my brother-in-law. Wish I would have known you when I was younger, but I'm so proud to call you family. You were so ill when you came to live with us, but we wouldn't have had it any way! I always looked in on you many times during the nite to see if you were o.k. I was by yourside and loving you as Raymond and I held you when you died. I think about you everyday and love and miss you terribly!! Lovingly, Corki

It has been many years since I last saw Leland, but of the friends I had in my life he has always remained in my mind. We had many good times together and they will never be forgotten. I will forever remember the laugh, his smile, and his good nature. I never new a finer horseman or a better competitor. When he won, you never saw a show of ego. As he fought the demons in his mind, the Lord above will have him in the winner's arena forever. Someday, I pray we will cross our pathways again.

I was just a little girl when I started hearing about Leland Kelly from my Dad, Homer Koon, many years ago. Homer was superintendent for Rogers Cannery in Milton-Freewater and I do not remember what Leland did there but he worked with Dad. Dad always called him "Trampus". So I grew up thinking he was Trampus, a famous cowboy and he was.
Our sympathy to his family as we know Leland will be missed by them all. Our prayers that God will bless you with his comfort and love at this time.

Although we are cousins we grew up almost like brothers, competing against each other in a variety of ways, and sharing a lot of the same joys and and heartaches. Leland I will miss you, God be with you.

Even if I cannot be there on October 1, you will all be in my thoughts and prayers as you seen Leland to his final resting place. May the love and grace of God heal all of his wounds and sorrows and make him whole once again with the wholeness that comes only in that new place not made with human hands.

I went through grade school in College Place with Leland. I remember how he loved horses and riding. All the girls were in love with him - he was so cute. I never saw him again after 8th grade but would hear things at the reunions occasionally. I wish I had had the chance to see him ride! My condolences to the family. I'm sure he will be sorely missed.

Recalling sweet memories and sharings that occurred among very young children (of which you were one) at Prescott Elementary School some 50-plus years ago. God Bless you, Leland.

I didn't know Leland as an adult but sure do remember him from grade school at Prescott. Sounds like the really good kid grew up to be a really good man. It isn't the length of life but the quality that matters. God be with you.

To Leland:
I remember you from my teens years when I was a Wagonette. I loved watching you at rodeos, and, although you never did know why, I would always seek you out just to walk by, smile, and say hi...you were my "John Wayne." God will be so tickled to have you show him how to rodeo. To your loving family and friends: Your lives were so rich for having Leland in them. He will be missed and loved.....always.

Leland:
One of the things I have learned over the decades of time is that life gets by too quickly. It is also a thief who has no remorse. And when we lose someone dear, we can never again say to their face all of the things that we should of...could of. Sadly, I am guilty of just that...should of, could of. You were the endearing young man and cowboy loved by so many , did you know that? Folks didn't come to Walla Walla or Pendleton to see the event, they came to see Leland Kelly, the home town cowboy who was a hero and mentor to young men and the heart-throb of young girls. You were goodness and caring, strength and courage, wit and charm. With whispering and excited anticipation to see you and your talented performance(s), the tall, handsome, and loved cowboy would ride into the arena. Those will always be "Kodak" moments for many many people who knew, knew of, and loved you. Just thought you might want to know. And now the cowboy rides away. God and peace be with you Leland.

When I visit Sharon Picard, who I've had as a friend for over 20 years I'll think of you and the night you came over to visit Sharon and I told you I had taken your place and you would have to want until I have gone home to have your place with Sharon back. You were asking how soon I was to leave and go home. You'll be missed by your best friend and Gal Sharon and I also. And the look on your face was priceless!

You was one of a kind. Thank you for the last 5 years and being in my life. No, I will not forget you and yes we are still partners. I am so glad that the pain is gone for you and I know that you are in a better place and surrounded by people who love you. You left a big hole in my life but I have the memories of all the places we went and all the adventures we shared (like the airport in Denver when you had me paged overhead and watched me in my confusion as to who could be paging me.) Your sense of humor often surprised me that left me laughing and shaking my head. I could go on for hours but you know how I felt about you. Love you.
