Obituary of Steven Merle Junk

Steven Merle Junk Steve left us peacefully in Lacey, Washington, on April 30, 2011, at the age of 55. He was born on April 4, 1956, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Willard Frank Junk and Marijane (Junk) Ridley. After graduating from Olympia High School in 1974, he attended college for one year at Bremerton Community College, studying journalism. He worked in construction for many years, including Marks Drywall for about 15 years. He was also the light man for the band Porky and the Beans! Steve married twice and has two children, Lindsey Ruth and John Steven. Steve loved to camp and fish, especially on the Deschutes River at his sister’s place. Steve is survived by his children, Lindsey and John; parents, Marijane and William Ridley; stepmother, Cecilia Junk; sister, Vicki (James) Cline; niece, Kelsey Windust; Aunt Barbara Junk; Uncle Bob (Margie) Junk; step siblings, Tim (Geri) Ridley, Vickie (Debbie) Ridley, Tony Ridley, Lisa Ridley, Jack (Michele) Elder, Deter (Rob) Walker, Pat (Debbie) Belford, Mike (Diane) Belford, Karen Williams, Sharen Miller; and numerous cousins. He also left behind his cat, Kink; roommate, Cody Poulson; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Frank Junk; grandparents, Merle and Marjorie Junk, Robert and Emma O’Ban; stepbrother, Nathaniel Ridley; and his Uncle Dick Junk. Steve was a very comical character that everyone loved, so much so that, even when he was very ill, he was still joking, laughing and sporting that smile that we all know. Some say that he missed his calling and maybe should have been in the entertainment industry. We will miss him so very much and will always smile when we think of him and remember the good times. The family will hold a celebration of life on May 21, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Wonderwood Park, 5304 32nd Avenue SE in Lacey, WA. The picnic areas are covered and have several tables so we can spread out and keep dry. Please dress accordingly for Spring Western Washington weather. We all know Steve loved food and laughter so this will be a potluck. Bottled water and soda will be provided. Please bring your favorite dish to share, along with your photos and stories of Steve.
