Obituary of Margaret F. Johnson

Margaret Farrell Johnson With Family at her bedside Margaret F. Johnson died peacefully on October 15, 2009. She was born on October 26, 1928 to Arthur R. and Ethel A. Rogers in Port Townsend. She fondly recalled her childhood and close family ties in Seattle. She attended Queen Anne High School, and married Robert E. McClure soon after. They divorced in 1947. In 1952, after many adventures she met and married Robert D. Johnson, and settled in Seattle, where she enjoyed bowling and being a homemaker. In 1963, they moved to Olympia where she became well known locally as “Marge the Bartender” and manager of the Shakey’s Pizza Parlor on the Westside of Olympia, retiring in 1984 to travel and winter in Mexico with her husband until his death in 1990. In 1996, she met her dear companion, Leo Lawrence with whom she spent the happiest years of her life, losing him to cancer after seven wonderful years. She was active in her church, Mountain View Church of the Nazarene, where she was known as “Maggie” Johnson. Margaret is survived by her children: Robert E. McClure Jr. (Maedean), Ginger L. Wolfe (Dennis), Connie L. Johnson-Jasperson (Greg), Sherrie L. DeGraw (Mark) and Robert D. Johnson II (Denise); thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grand children; and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers: Robert E. Rogers (Janet) and James E. Rogers (Donna). She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Arthur D. Rogers and Leland Rogers; and sisters, Florence Lemke and Jenny Rogers. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Mountain View Church of the Nazarene located at 940 Israel Rd SW, Tumwater, Washington, just past Tumwater High School.
