Eileen was the most patient and loving Campfire leader ever, as well as the best "best friend's mom" there could be. I always felt welcomed and cared for whenever I was at her house and remember those childhood days very fondly.

We 'go back' sixty years with Norm and Eileen. We have been able to follow the course of their lives and we have done this with a sense of having the priviidge of being in the presence of truly Christian souls, people who have lived their creed day-by-day and achieved lives filled devoted to common virtues and goodness.
Nothing is more significant about Eileen's life to us than the humility and dedication she brought to each of Life's tasks and the moral courage she showed in the manner in which she touched all of us. We shall have to miss the service because of Dotti's limitations these days but we shall be with you in spirit as well as through The Spirit in which Eileen's considerable Faith was anchored.
To both of us Eileen's life was a demonstration of the manner in which the ordinariness of God's Humble Servants can enrich the world around them. Keeping The Faith with her God as well as keeping faith with all who passed through her life is the feature of her long life that we shall dwell on as we remember her.
If we may, we would add that her children are living testimony to her devotion to motherhood; in the very end nothing can surpass this as a contribution to the 'good of our world'.

When Carol and I were children in Sunday School, Mrs. Johnson taught us about the loving and eternal nature of God through simple words: "Jesus loves me." Later, when Carol, Dave and I were MYF teenagers conducting "Folk Mass" worship services, I remember sometimes focusing on Norm and Eileen's faces as a anchor of familiarity that helped calm my nerves. The First United Methodist Church in Olympia and the Johnson family were part of my church home and family for many years -- and although that was many years ago, they still have special places in my heart. Especially you, Carol. Eileen's life as a wife and mother, family member, teacher, leader and friend reflected the love of Christ and the hope we have even during times of sadness, pain and grief. Tears will turn to joy. God bless you and keep you all.

What a wonderful tribute to your mom and what a special lady. I was lucky enough to be working with Carol when her dad passed away and got to know what a dedicated Christian, father and husband he was. I know now that Eileen was a perfect match as she also had a servants heart. I see this is Carol as well. What a blessing to have children who carry on what you've begun. I loved the tribute Eileen wrote about her own death so many years before. What a comfort to each of you to know she's with her Redeemer and your father. God bless each of you as you remember the wonderful times and life you shared with your mom.
