Obituary of SFC George D. Jeffers

SFC, George David Jeffers aka G.D. passed away February 24, 2011 at Capital Medical center, Olympia. George was born November 10, 1929 in Greenville, Tennessee to Silvester and Haddie Bell Jeffers. He graduated from High School in Tennessee. On January 7, 1953 George joined the U.S. Army in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He served until his retirement in 1971. He was veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and helped with the Airlift in Germany. He had traveled all over Europe and Asia. He was then stationed in Marina, California from 1972-1979 moving to Tumwater in 1979 finally settling in Olympia where he has lived for the last 25 years. Following his retirement G.D. had worked at Hardel Plywood as a machinist and cooked in many restaurants. He enjoyed going to the Casino, working puzzle books, fishing, and going to the movies. On May 20, 1954 in Seoul Korea, George married In Suk Choi , who preceded him in death on November 14, 2010. He was preceded in death by a son George D. Jeffers, Jr. September 2005. He was preceded in death by his brothers Elmer Missing, Jack Jeffers, Orval Jeffers and sister Mel Jeffers. Surviving are his daughters Terry Miller and Mary Hagle, brothers Bobbie, Leon Jeffers, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. His family will remember him as a very sweet man, good father and husband, very funny, always on the go like an energizer battery and a wonderful man who will be missed by his family and friends.
