Obituary of Alexandra Jasionek

Alexandra “Alexis” “Ollie” Jasionek Alexis Jasionek, age 97, passed away June 18, 2011, in Olympia, Washington. She was born April 10, 1914, in Mielec, Poland, to Lewis and Caroline Warenda Wojtowicz. Alexis lived in several different places over her lifetime: Poland (1914-1919); Chicago and Joliet, Illinois (1919-1930) where she graduated from high school; Des Plaines, Illinois (1930-1936) where she married Leon Michael Jasionek on April 30, 1936; Hammond, Indiana (1936-1972) where she was the owner of Hammond Floral Company for 36 years, after which she retired; Des Plaines, Illinois (1972-1974); Fort Myers, Florida (1974-1977); Des Plaines (1977-1984); Arizona (1984-2002) where her husband passed away on February 20, 1989; and Washington State (2002-2011). Alexis was always very active and hard working. She loved gardening. In Arizona, she was very involved in volunteering at her residence in the Forum at Sun City where she planted and maintained many of their rose and flower gardens. She also helped with floral decorations, and was involved in crafts. She belonged to St. John Bosco church in Hammond, Indiana, and St. Clement of Rome church in Sun City, Arizona. Alexis is survived by her daughter Janie Lee (Terry) O’Donnell of Puyallup, Washington; granddaughter, Arianne Lara of Albany, New York; and her beloved caregiver and companion, Peggy Ray (and her family), who cared for Alexis the last seven years of her life.
