Obituary of Jocelyn Standish Jackson

Jocelyn Standish Jackson Born in Malden, Massachusetts, on February 17, 1934, Jocelyn Standish Jackson grew up as the daughter of a Methodist minister. She moved with the family to many parts of Florida while her father continued his work with the Methodist church. Jocelyn graduated from Florida State University, and then did a Dietetic Internship at Peter Bent Brigham in Boston. While there she met James Frederick Jackson and they were married in Orlando, Florida, on October 13, 1956. They lived in New York and New Jersey before moving to Olympia, Washington in 1986. She was an active member of the American Dietetic Association, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Westminster Presbyterian Church. Her hobbies included dietetics, gardening, music, and genealogy. She also enjoyed following financial reports and the stock market. Following a very brief stay in the hospital, Jocelyn was diagnosed with an advanced stage of cancer. After returning to her home, her death followed quickly on May 15, 2007, in Olympia, Washington, as she was surrounded by her family. Survivors include her husband James; sister, Evelyn Standish of Gainesville, Florida; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Arbaugh of Kent, Susan Lynne Markley of Littleton, Colorado; son, David Standish Jackson of Chelan and grandchildren, Caplan and Kaitlyn Markley and Atarah Crawford; nephews, Dr. James Standish Montelaro of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Steven Montelaro of Palm Harbor, Florida. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 21, 2007 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Memorials in Jocelyn’s honor may be directed to the church memorial fund.
