Obituary of Joseph Hudson

JOSEPH EDWARD HUDSON Joseph Edward Hudson was born on March 18, 1910 the eldest of five sons to Magwood Daniel and Mary Esther (Bowden) Hudson in Gainesville, Georgia. Joe passed away at the age of 99 years in Capital Medical Center in Olympia after a short illness. He is survived by his wife Doreen of 22 years. His only child Chuck passed away in March 2007. He is survived by his daughter-in-law Linda, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild in Fortuna, California. He is also survived by three step-children, seven step-grandchildren and nine step-great grand children who live in Washington, Alaska and British Columbia. He is also survived by Doreen’s family who live in Regina, Saskatchewan; Shirley Knight, Barbara and Jack Webb and their families. Joe was the eldest of five sons who have all preceded him in death. Joe was educated in Gainesville and attended Georgia Tech. He joined the Coast Guard during the Depression in the 30’s and later transferred to the U.S. Navy retiring with 23 years of service in 1959. He went on to be Purchasing Manager for Western Drug Supply in Tacoma for 15 years before retiring. Joe lived on the golf course at Lake Cushman for many years before moving to Lacey, WA. He loved to golf. He was a Life Member of the Masons-Harmony Lodge #18, Scottish Rite and a 50 year member of the Afifi Shrine in Tacoma. He was also a member of Amaranth and was Royal Patron and Eastern Star and was Worthy Patron twice. There will be no services at Joe’s request.
