Mary Thielen and John Rosanbalm posted a condolence

It seems that Bud, Katye and family have ALWAYS been in Bill's (deceased in 1993) and Mary Thielen's circle of good friends -- through our thirty years of Air Force life and all the moves! One or the other family would be transferred and so often shortly afterward here came the other to the same base!! I could reminisce for pages about episodes that were memorable -funny, enjoyable, sweet, sort of crazy (with Bud Hornor around, what else?!!): like the time in Rincon, P.R., that we all came back from the beach to see a big dog run off with our dinner roast (of course, Katye still came up with a good meal!) Then, the time Bud and Bill pulled in to the shore at Lake Bisteneau with fish for dinner and Bill fell into the water. At Beale AFB we looked out the window and a camper pulled up, the door opened and two adults and six kids came filing out -guess who?!
John Rosanbalm came into my life in 1995 (he had lost his wife three months before I lost Bill) and we had the great pleasure of many good times with Bud and Katye and Bob and Ruth Vogele-in Colorado, here in Hot Springs and Santa Cruz.
We shall always cherish the memories of Bud and Katye-we admired them greatly and know they were the greatest of parents!

Since Katye and Bud accepted me to stay at their home in Bonny Doon in 1985, they always encouraged me and were always welcomed me when I asked to visit. I like their sense of humor so much. If I could have not met them, I would not be the one I am now. It is not enough how many times to say "Thank you" and "I love you". And I miss them too much...

Both Bud and Katye were instrumental in helping me thru very confusing times. Bud`s constant wit, along with caring advice made it possible for me to become the man I am today. While they will be missed, their positive influence will always be in my heart. Our sympathy and prayers go out to Katye and Bud`s family. Dennis and Cheryl Norris

We are so sorry to hear of Bud's passing. They were wonderful neighbors when we lived in Bonny Doon. We always knew when they were home, as Bud would always whistle. And we loved hearing about all their adventures. Our most heartfelt condolences to all the family.

You were one of the most intelligent persons that we ever knew - first because you married Katye and then just your knowledge of everything. You will be sadly missed by your loving family.
