Obituary of Angela Hooper

Angela Hooper Angela Tiffany Johnson Hooper was born on September 17, 1967 to Virginia Rose Mortenson Johnson and Mark Robert Johnson in Tacoma, Washington. She was, as her name implies, an angel...a source of joy to all who knew her, friends and family alike. Angie married Gary Hooper in 1984. Together they raised a beautiful daughter, Jennifer Lynn Hooper. She lived with her family in the South Bay area of Olympia for the past 20 years. She and husband Gary designed and built a wonderful arts and crafts home which Angie saw through to completion after Gary’s death in 2007. In spite of her illness, she continued to thrive on countless hands-on construction projects around the home. Angela graduated from North Thurston High School in 1985 with highest honors and numerous scholarships. She attended St. Martin’s College in addition to earning professional degrees in the insurance industry, including her CPUC. Her working career in insurance began while Angie was in high school and continued for the next 27 years until cancer forced her early retirement. She served the firms of Sound Insurance Brokers; Brown and Brown Insurance; Pastore and Associates; and Nicholson and Associates Insurance. Angie’s sharp wit and sense of fair play were acknowledged by all who knew her and none dared take her on in the realm of logical argument, either! She was a black belt sudoku player, and an avid photographer. She enjoyed and mastered a variety of crafts, including jewelry making, quilting, and paper crafts. She loved going to live theater and musical performances, as well as traveling. In August she and daughter, Jennifer, traveled throughout Europe for a month, realizing a long held dream. In addition to her beloved daughter, Jennifer, residing in Olympia, she leaves her parents, Mark and Patty Johnson of Yelm, WA; Virginia and Lonnie Blackston of Florence, AZ; brother Nathan and wife Patty of Shelton, WA; as well as a loving, extended family. Funeral services are on Saturday, November 26, at 1:00 p.m., at South Sound Manor, 455 North Street SE in Tumwater, WA. All are welcome. Donations can be made in Angie’s memory to Providence Sound HomeCare and Hospice, 3432 South Bay Road NW, Olympia, WA 98506.
