Obituary of James Hodgson

James Kenneth Hodgson Jim grew up I Euclid, OH and joined the Army after high school. He served in Germany and France in WWII, coming home to attend Bowling Green College on the GI Bill. He began his long career working for Shell Oil in Akron after receiving his Bachelor’s Degree. After many years and many positions with in the company, he finally became the manager for purchasing and selling locations for service stations through out the United States. During his last five years with Shell, he was the executive director for one of it’s subsidiaries, Hodaka Motors. After retiring from Shell Oil, Jim was invited by a friend to join Western Farms Fertilizer Corporation. He did this for many years before his true retirement after which he moved to Ocean Shores to enjoy the beach and get back into flying and boating. An early marriage ended with the illness of his first wife. He cared for her until her death. He then met Marriette Moore in 1988 and a great friendship was formed. For almost ten years they were best friends and became part of each others families. They married in 1997 and have shared the best part of their lives together. Jim leaves 2 step daughters, Karen (Ake) Gissler and Kristina (Don) Griggs, one granddaughter who was the light of his life, Anna Katherine Griggs, his loving wife, Harriette as well as many friends like Fred Winge, Frank Springer and Joe Meehen, just to name a few.
