Obituary of colella Hibberd

Laura Zetta Hibberd Laura Zetta Hibberd passed away Monday March 3, 2008. Zetta was born to Claude & Calla Havens on December 15, 1919 in Southwest City, Missouri. She moved to Olympia as a young girl where her family owned and operated a small grocery store where Eddie’s Market was eventually located. Zetta’s father eventually became Thurston County Sheriff, an office he held for 11 years, where he had one of the first bloodhounds in the state used to wage war against moon shiners in the region. She was the youngest of three children. Her brothers Dwight and William preceded her in death. After a year of secretary school in Seattle, Zetta married George Hibberd in 1942 and set up housekeeping in Tacoma. Their son, Scott, was born in 1944, followed by a brother, Brett, in 1947. The young family, now living in the Olympia area, opened the men’s clothing store Hibberd & Cole that served the community for forty years. Zetta and George were long-time members of St. John’s Episcopal Church and the Olympia Golf & Country Club. Zetta was an avid golfer and cultivated many lifelong friends through her many community involvements. Zetta is survived by her husband of 65 years, George, her two sons, Scott (wife Bobbi) and Brett (wife Kellie), four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. At Zetta’s request there will be no funeral service. A celebration of Zetta’s life will be held at a later date. Anyone wishing to make a Memorial Donation is ask to do so to their favorite charity.
