Bonnie Hervin

Obituary of Bonnie Jean Hervin

No visitation Bonnie passed on under the loving care of her family after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer. Bonnie is survived by her son Mathew Hervin; daughter Bobbi Hudson; granddaughter Hazel Jean Hudson; and son-in-law David Hudson. Bonnie is also survived by her brother Bill Mathews of Olympia; sister Ellen Islas of Redding, California; and brother John Mathews and mother Sally Mathews, both of Pico Rivera, California. Bonnie was an amazingly strong, adventurous, and talented woman. Looking back at her entire life, Bonnie was most proud of her family and her instrumental role in the development of the North Kitsap School District's Art Docent and Accelerated Education programs. Her leadership in these programs influenced the lives of hundreds of children. Bonnie was born and raised in California, then, true to her adventurous spirit, traveled around Europe before moving to Hawaii, where she met her husband. Bonnie and her husband, Bob Hervin, met while they both worked on tour boats, and the couple eventually started their own commercial fish packing business, owning five boats that worked the waters of both Washington and Alaska. Through their strength, intelligence and hard work, Bonnie and Bob built a wonderful life for their children, which they raised in Kingston and Bainbridge Island. Bonnie was sadly preceded in death by her husband, and eventually moved to Olympia to be near her daughter. In Olympia, Bonnie continued to pursue her love of art, literature, genealogy, powerful friendships and extensive talent with rubber stamping. Per Bonnie's wishes, there will not be a formal memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to breast cancer research, your local library, or the charity of your choice.
