Obituary of Daniel Hearn

Daniel Hearn Dan passed away quietly at his home on December 30th, 2007, with his wife and eldest brother by his side. Dan was born to Richard and Velda Hearn (Argyle) on April 15, 1952, in Chehalis, Washington where he lived throughout his life. He attended school in Chehalis and Adna, graduating from Adna High School in 1970. Following graduation, Dan joined the US Navy, serving for two years. A mutual friend introduced him to his future wife, Peggy Pacsmag, and they were married on August 10, 1974. They built a home on family property on Rush Road, then later moved into the original farm house on that property, and finally moved into Chehalis at the time of Dan’s retirement. Dan was a member of Local 612 (Operating Engineers) for 30 years. He was a “Dozer” operator for WIDCO for nine years and then worked directly out of the “Hall” working in many West Coast states. Dan also drove truck. Dan’s life-long passions were fishing and hunting, especially steelhead and ducks, which he enjoyed with his father, brothers and many friends. Dan loved baseball, especially the Mariners and was a member of the first men’s slow-pitch team sponsored by WIDCO. Dan also enjoyed golf, and he was a regional horseshoe champion. He was an avid Seahawk’s fan as well, and he counted gardening and chili making among his many talents. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Peggy Hearn and his children, Holli McGarrah of Kulm, ND, and Jeremy Hearn (Mandy) of Chehalis. He is also survived by his brothers Glen (Laurel) of Curtis, Kelly of Paris, Idaho, and his sister Jeannie Olivera (Bill) of LaQuinta, CA. His grandchildren include Wesley, Cole and Presley of Kulm, ND, and Kevin, Curtis, Conner, Carson, and Makela, all of Chehalis. They remember him lovingly as “Papa.” Many nieces, nephews and cousins will also miss him. He was a quietly loving parent and loyal friend. Dan’s mother Velda Argyle (Tom) also survives him, living in LaQuinta, CA. Dan was preceded in death by his brother Dick, his father Richard, and his grandparents. A Celebration of Life for Dan will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Centralia on Saturday, January 5th at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be offered by clicking "View Guestbook" below.
