Obituary of Evelyn F. Harrison

No visitation Evelyn F. Harrison Much loved wife, mother, grandmother and best friend went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 24, 2007. Evelyn was born in Ferndale, WA. On March 13, l920 to Ernest John Bates and Truth Hawkins Bates. She had three brothers, Stan, Bill and Wesley since deceased. Evelyn attended Monroe, WA High School and Knapp Business College in Tacoma, WA. In l942 she was a billing clerk at Rhodes Dept. Stores in Tacoma, WA. In l944 Evelyn worked at Ft. Lewis in Payroll where she met and fell in love with the love of her life, Harold, an enlisted Sergeant with the Army. On July 13, l946 Harold & Evelyn were married in a private ceremony at her mother’s home in Tacoma, WA. Evelyn and Harold just celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary. Evelyn & Harold raised 3 children, Denny (deceased 2002), Cheryl Loper (Steve), and Gayle Wilson (Dan). Family was everything and she loved her 6 Grandchildren, Chris (Jen), Scott (Kristina), & Jason Loper, Karie & Katie Wilson (Brandon), Mathew Harrison (Jean) and Chad Harrison (deceased in l991). 6 Great Grand children, Grace and Sam Loper, Kiev Wilson & Ramar Reid, Evelyn Loper and Tyson Harrison and one more on the way. Evelyn loved her family first and foremost. A phenomenal cook and pie baker, she kept the family coming back for their favorites. She loved flowers and grew so very many. She helped Harold with the bountiful garden produce by canning it all in jars by the hundreds. She always put away for a “rainy day” and loved gift giving at Christmas & Birthdays. She never forgot a celebration. Evelyn NEVER complained about much and told everyone, “Don’t go to any bother”. Private burial, immediate family, at the Yelm Cemetery, Friday, August 31, 2007, followed by a Family & Friends Gathering 3:00 PM at the home of her daughter, Cheryl & Steve Loper, Yelm.
