No visitation Betty Jean Gustafson Betty Jean Gustafson died September 15, 2007 at home. She was born July 6, 1929 to George Filmore Geary and Helen Mae (Aagard) Geary in Rapid City, South Dakota. Betty grew up in Rapid City and graduated from Rapid City High School in 1947. Betty married Carl F. Gustafson Jr. on June 25, 1949 in Rapid City. The family moved to Lacey, Washington in 1966. Betty was a talented seamstress. She designed and made her beautiful wedding gown at age 19. She enjoyed doing all kinds of needlework. Betty participated in neighborhood "Bazaars" with her knit and crochet items. She was an excellent ice skater, enjoyed a good game of cards and was a whiz at solving the daily crossword puzzles. She visited many places on family motor home trips and enjoyed fishing and camping. She was an expert at canning the day's salmon catch with her pressure cooker on the little gas stove at the campsite. Betty was a homemaker, an excellent cook and housekeeper. She was an avid bowler. Betty enjoyed tending her many hanging baskets of beautiful flowers on her patio and watching the hummingbirds. At Betty's request, there will be a private service.
