Shawn: Roger was my buddy, it was an honor to work with him. I first met roger as a reserve deputy in the early 80s and we were on the same shift for many many years. we went to alot of calls together over the years and it was allways a pleasure working with roger. You never had to worry when roger came to back you up.
I allways seem to get a smile out of roger when we worked together and I looked up to him as a brillant law enforcement officer and I had to utmost respect for him. I will misss him and allways remember him.
I am very sorry for your loss. If there is anything I can do for you or your family, Please feel free to contact me it would be my honor and pleasure.

I met Roger at Gonzaga University in 1973. He was from Wilbur, WA. I had no idea where that was. We quickly became friends along with Rod Pankey and Bob Rooney. Roger and I eventually were roommates at college.
Roger was my good friend. He was so much smarter than all of us. He knew everything. He taught me a lot of things, especially history. He also taught me to drink coffee, eat Mystic Mints, skip class and watch Wheel of Fortune.
He taught me to be loyal to Coca-cola and appreciate the Guise-sky-hook.
He taught me an appreciation for every Gilligan's Island, Happy Days and of course, Star Trek episode. We had so much fun. Driving around Spokane in college and going to the store late at night. We also enjoyed bowling, especially during finals week!
When Roger got hired by Thurston County we were roommates again until I left and got married. Again, those days are some of my favorite memories.
Roger's physical strength was astounding. He threw us around like rag dolls whenever we would wrestle. He was a dedicated weight lifter and jogger.
His mental strength was even more amazing. He remembered everything, he read everything, and loved to learn.
Roger was a great friend who would do anything for you if he could. He was one of our group at college and now I cannot believe he is gone. He was loyal, honest, and full of integrity. His kind don't come along much anymore. He was cut from a different cloth than a lot of others. The world would be a better place if more men were like Roger Guise.
I am suffering with this loss but I can only imagine the loss felt by Roger's family. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you and will continue to be there. I will NEVER forget Roger and all my memories are good.
Rest in Peace, my friend. You were like a brother to me in so many ways.
We loved you, and always will.

Roger, I want to thank you for being such a great Uncle to my children. You always greeted them with your hugs, smiles and attention. My memories of you holding them when they cried, taking them outside your house when they needed a break, assisting them to be feed, and helping them to climb your tree will always be with me. Thank you for making this world a safer, better place to live. GOD bless you and yours and all the lives that you have touched. Which are many!

My friend Roger,
I will miss all the little things about our friendship...I could never stump you in trivia. You always had to finish my crosswords puzzles by giving the answers to the hard ones. I'll miss seeing your lawnmowers in our garage..(Len will keep working on Shawns). I will really miss your wit...I was still learning from it..LOL. I will however continue to have lots of Coke-Cola in the frig. I will miss you on night shift. I lost every bet we made on the World Series and Super Bowl for the last 5 years...the lunches I lost though were good times. You were a great DAD and great FRIEND..we will miss you. Love and already miss you.

I will always hold fond memories of Roger, his reports, and his home voice mail message. He was a big, soft-spoken man of few words, witty, and very intelligent. He was a true road deputy and sergeant and led his shift well. He will most definitely be missed. I wish his family well.

I have found in life some of the biggest men have the gentlest souls. Roger fit that description. He would walk into dispatch mutter a few words and walk back out. But if you could get him on the phone, what great conversations you could have. It served you well to listen carefully to his quiet mutter, he was so bright and funny.
Shawn, Whitney, Bradley, and Spencer, remember to tell wonderful stories, laugh, and keep Roger close to you in your hearts, his gentle ways will help lead you through this dreadful time.

I will always have fond memories of Roger and the many nights we worked together on Patrol. I can recall the first night that I met Roger, when he reported for duty on my squad. During the 26 years that Roger worked for me, I always found Roger to be a man of few words but, those he spoke were forthright, direct, and meaningful. A more honest man I have never known, Roger was always willing to accept responsibility for his actions and was not one to shirk his duties. I learned quickly as his Sergeant that I could always expect a direct answer from Roger and when a situation digressed, I could always count on him to do the right thing, in the right way, and for the right reason. He was a great guy. We will miss him greatly and our heartfelt sympathy is with you and the boys Shawn.

I worked with Roger for 22 years and enjoyed every moment. He was a dedicated officer. But more than that I knew him personally all those years. He was intelligent, kind, honest, hard working, loving, patient and had the greatest sense of humor. Roger was a super DAD and loved all his family dearly. Even some that weren't his family. "Rog" help save me and my daughter on more than one occasion and we were honored and blessed to be a part of his and Shawn's family. And for this alone I cannot express my thanks enough. The depth of his passing and the lose already felt goes beyond mere words or tears of grieve. We will MISS you dearly, but you will live on forever in our memories and our hearts. Shawn, Whitney, Bradley and Spencer our love, support and prayers are with you now and forever.

I worked with Roger for several years and got to know him pretty well. He was a gentle giant with a big heart. I use to get a kick out of sense of humor, which was always there, you just had to work at it some. I liked the challenge of getting him to smile and chuckle. He was a very dedicated Deputy and friend whom I respected very much. He will be greatly missed, but I and lots of others will have good memories of him forever...The best to you Shawn and your boys, always keep good thoughts. Love ya, Brian

Shawn, Our thoughts are with you and the boys, and you know how to reach us if you need anything. I'll remember Roger as that quiet guy with a subtle sense of humor. Remember all the good stuff, it will help with the sadness.
