Obituary of Ellyne F. Greene

Ellyne F. Greene Ellyne F. Greene died on March 6, 2009, surrounded by her family at St. Peter’s Hospital in Olympia. Ellyne was born on July 12, 1924, to John and Mary Lentz in Clinton, Iowa. She was raised in a strong Catholic family and she completed her schooling at St. Mary’s Catholic schools in Clinton. She married James C. Greene on January 31, 1948, and they remained married for 33 years before he passed on in 1981. Ellyne was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Lewis and Gene Lentz. She is survived by her sister, Janie Rickerl of Clinton, Iowa, and her five children which includes daughters Rosie of Lacey, Claudette (Tom) Rochester, Wa., and Shelley (Gene) of Fairbanks, Alaska, and sons Jim (Geri) of Olympia, and Joe (Trish) from Tenino, ten grandchildren and eight great-grand children, and numerous nieces and nephews from the Greene, Lentz, and Rickerl families. Ellyne’s life was totally centered around raising her family and being an absolute inspiration and rock for them all. Not only was she a loving mother to her own children, but over the years Ellyne welcomed many others into her heart and her home, and she became an example and inspiration to them all that they will carry with them forever. Activities that Ellyne enjoyed included the many family gatherings at her home, working in her yard, and her regular Saturday excursions with her long-time close neighborhood friends. Ellyne’s family is eternally grateful for the compassionate care she received from the staff of Thurston County Fire District 3, and the doctors and nurses of St. Peter’s Hospital Critical Care Unit. A memorial will be held at Funeral Alternatives, 455 North Street SE, Tumwater at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2009.
