Obituary of Christa Gorecki

Christa Gorecki brought incredible joy and affection to her family and friends over the past 80 years. She died peacefully at her home with the grace and dignity that exemplified her life, which started in Germany and ended in Olympia, Washington. Christa met her husband Frank while he was serving in Germany after World War II, and came to the United States to begin her family. Christa and Frank lived in many places over the next years as Frank served in the U.S. Army, but they eventually returned to Olympia to spend their retirement years. Christa had one son also named Frank, whom she affectionately called “Max”. Christa’s focus in life was to care for her family and spend time with friends, for whom she often cooked her special German meals. She loved dogs, and in recent years doted on her various furry companions – Poochie, Maggie, Molly and Sadie. She read voraciously and followed political events, offering enlightened opinions on many topics. Christa’s religious home was St. Michael’s Westside Chapel and she volunteered with the Children’s Orthopedic Guild. She will be greatly missed by those who remain behind: her son Frank (Max), her daughter-in-law Nancy, her granddaughter, Kate and Kate’s husband, Bret, her grandson, Chris Gorecki, and her step-grandson, Chris Young. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2006 at the St. Michael Catholic Church – Westside, 1835 Overhulse Rd. NW, Olympia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either: St. Michael Catholic Church, 1021 Boundary St. SE, Olympia, WA 98501 Providence Sound Homecare and Hospice, 3432 South Bay Rd. NE, Olympia American Cancer Society, 1551 Broadway Ste. 200, Tacoma, WA 98042.
