Obituary of Cyril H. Gilbert

Cyril (Cy) Gilbert June 12, 1930 – March 21, 2011 It is with great sorrow that the family of Cyril (Cy) Gilbert announce his passing on March 21st, 2011 at Providence St. Peter’s hospital in Olympia, Washington after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Cy is survived by his loving & devoted wife, Phyllis, the love of his life, his daughter Laura (Jerry) Tilson, Son David(Debie) Gilbert, brother Gary(Murt) Gilbert of Kelowna B. C., sister-in-law Fran and brother-in-law Ted(Chris) John of Edmonton, Alberta. Also surviving are his Grandchildren J.C.(Linda) Tilson Shelly(Steve) McGregor, Rob (Sadie) Tilson, Nichole(John) Kollerman, Shawna Gilbert and several Great Grandchildren nieces & Nephews. Cy was raised in town of Field, B.C., Canada & moved to Edmonton where he apprenticed and received his journeyman’s papers as a printer with the Edmonton Journal. He & Phyllis and the children moved to Centralia, WA in 1956, and later moved to Olympia where he worked as a systems manager at the Daily Olympian until his retirement in June 1992. Cy’s family was the most important thing in his life. He & Phyllis loved to travel and spent many happy times in their motor home with family and friends. A Celebration of Cy’s life will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 2242 Friendly Grove Road N.E. Olympia on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 2:00 pm. , with a reception to follow. The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Ye, the nurses & staff on the third floor of St .Peter’s and Puget Sound Health Center for the loving care of Cy.
