David Freeman

Obituary of David Freeman

Dave was born in 1924 in Wisconsin during a 40 degree below zero blizzard. Dave and his dad moved to Oakland, California in 1931. During WWII Dave served his country in the Navy in the Pacific. For 25 years he was a police officer for the City of Oakland. He had many interests, including fishing, hunting and bowling. After retirement Dave moved to Oregon where he raised beef cattle. Dave was able to fix just about any farm equipment and was the "go to" man for all of his farmer friends. In 1993, Dave moved to Olympia with his wife, Linda. He remained busy with farm work, bowling and working out at the gym. Dave had a big booming voice and laugh to go along with his physical strength. He had hundreds of police stories, and when he would share some of them, he could keep everyone interested and either laughing or on the edge of their seats. Dave’s last year’s were difficult due to numerous health problems, yet he never complained. He continued to enjoy visits with family and friends. Dave will be greatly missed by his wife of 21 years, Linda; his step-daughter, Jeanette; and step-son, Larry, and their families, along with a large extended family of in-laws, friends and neighbors.
