Obituary of Robert C. Farler

No visitation Robert "Bob" Farler passed away on August 11, 2007 in Olympia from complications of emphysema. He was born in Denver, Colorado on April 7, 1937 to Fred and Loretta Farler. Bob moved to Olympia with his family in 1947. He attended school in Olympia and joined the United States Army in 1954. He served in Korea, Japan, Vietnam, and Germany and retired with 20 years of service in 1974. After retirement, Bob worked as a corrections officer, landscaper, and truck driver. His hobbies included fishing, camping, and woodworking. He was a lifetime member of the Olympia Veterans of Foreign Wars. Bob comes from a very large family and is survived by his 5 children, John Farler (Linna) of Maple Valley, Susie Lapalm, Donald Farler (Vida), Cathy Brockmann (John), and Chris Lewis (Shawn), all of Olympia; 5 brothers, Neil Farler (Janet) of Oak Harbor, Jim Farler (Harlene) of Tumwater, Dave Farler (Shelly) of Olympia, Mike Farler of Alaska, Tom Farler (Lovette) of Olympia; 5 sisters, MaryLou Gora (Dan) of Honolulu, Judith Brooks (Judd) of Shelton, Patty Smith (George) of Tumwater, Jeri Christy (Gerald) of Shelton, and Carrie Fleig (Roger) of Yelm. Bob also had 10 grandchildren. A son, Frank Farler; brother, Art Farler; sister, Sally Farley, and his parents, Fred and Loretta Farler, preceded him in death. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. August 24, 2007 at the VFW Hall, 2902 1/2 Martin Way E., Olympia, Washington, 98506. There will be a private family inurnment.
