Pastor Albert Escober

Obituary of Pastor James Albert Escober

Pastor James Albert Escober Jim was born June 28, 1933 in Bell, California, and passed away at home in Tenino, Washington, surrounded by family on Sunday, January 29, 2012. Jim grew up in the Los Angeles area where he met his wife, Marie Ethel Nash, at their school's Bible Club. They were married at 17 years of age, and recently celebrated their 61st anniversary. Jim served in the Navy during the Korean War and, after leaving the service, worked full time while attending Bible College to fulfil his calling to be a minister. Jim went on to serve 50 years in the ministry, pastoring in churches in Chehalis, Zillah, Silverdale, and Tenino. "I never wrote anyone off." No one was a stranger to Jim. He was generous with time and resources to both those he knew well and to strangers. Jim wanted to express his gratitude to all of those who have been a part of his life: "Thank them for everything they have done." He will be remembered for his straight-talking sermons, hearty laugh, outrageous stories, tremendous love for his family, and constant devotion to his wife. Jim is survived by his wife, Ethel; five children, Sherry, Cindy, Daniel, David, and Judy; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 and 1/2 great-great grandchildren; brother, David; and sisters, Linda and Evy.
