Obituary of DeVon Emmons

DeVon “Buck” Emmons Buck passed away on November 06, 2007 at RooLan Health and Rehab Center in Lacey, Washington. He was born on November 07, 1926 in Warsaw, Indiana to DeVon Sr. and Gladys Emmons, and had been a resident of Thurston County for 40+ Years. Buck served with the United States Navy during WWII with honor and pride. He was the recipient of the Victory Medal, America Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star, Philippine Liberation Medal with one Bronze Star. He served from March 9, 1944 through May 2, 1946 onboard the LST 1028 and The Nevada. Buck worked as a General Contractor, a Pattern Maker for Boeing and owner/operator of service stations. These were his favorite occupations during his lifetime. When not working Buck loved to build, to work in his garden, and keep his lawn looking like a park. He was also a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife of 22 years Ardith; his sons, John and James; stepsons, Brian and Jory Coleman; daughters, Connie Schiebel, Rosemary (David) Demming, Sue (David) Stallings; stepdaughter, Deana Coleman; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother R. Bill Emmons; sisters; Marcella Merica and Marge Hubert; and his beloved dog “Maxie Boy”. He was preceded in death by his sister Ignota Smith; grandchildren, Quinton, Susan, Sariah and Sarah; and parents DeVon Emmons Sr. and Gladys. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Masonic Center, 455 North Street SE, Tumwater, Washington.
