Obituary of Arvin Eugene Elder

Arvin Eugene Elder Arvin Elder, 63, passed away December 14, 2011 in Prosser, Washington. He was born August 24, 1948 to Marvin Harley and Lydia Eunice Savage in Texarkana, Texas. He graduated from Tumwater High School in 1966 and married his sweetheart, Skeeter, on April 14, 1966 in Tumwater. Arvin went on to Bates Technical College, learning baking skills which he began using in 1967. He worked in the baking industry throughout the Pacific Northwest until he went on to be with the Lord. His true love of life was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, and serving his Lord Jesus Christ every day. Arvin was a man of integrity, and always reached out to others in selflessly. He encouraged everyone, and made them feel important and loved. He brought laughter and joy to the many lives he touched. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, clam digging, music, playing his guitar, and working with his horses. He also was a long-time member of the Do Si Do Square Dance Club. Arvin is survived by his wife, Skeeter (Lucille) Elder; son, Travis (Nellie) Elder of Tumwater, WA; daughters, Lisa (Don) Stalker of Olympia, WA, Sherri (Dieter) Gilkey of Chehalis, WA, and Angela (Shawn) Gregory, of Centralia, WA; eight grandchildren whom he adored; Joshua Stalker, Andrea and Mariah Gregory, Lindsey and Kyle Gilkey, Jessica, Elexess, and newborn Travis Elder; brother, Claude “Harry” Harley/Elder of Shelton, WA; and his father, Marvin Harley of Texarkana, TX. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia Eunice Savage; and stepfather, Robert Smith Elder. Please leave memories of Arvin or condolences for the family in the Guestbook below.
