Obituary of Ronald Edwards

Ronald Edwards, age 82 of Tumwater, WA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. He was born on September 17, 1927 in Newport, England. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Clifford and Kenneth Edwards. He is survived by his wife Janie Edwards of Tumwater, WA; two stepdaughters, Lisa Burrell of Aliso Viejo, CA and her husband Rodney, and Lori Vani of Lacey, WA and her husband Aarow; and two grandchildren, Nathan and Emma Vani.He was best known for his warm and generous spirit, preferring to put the focus on others rather than himself. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially holidays, and making lasting memories. During his last few years, he engaged his young grandchildren in learning many new things. Nathan enjoyed playing chess, Monopoly and pool, and Emma liked to read, draw and do puzzles with her Papa. Ron enjoyed a long career as an engineer, having trained in England. He liked to travel, especially to Canada and other beautiful locations in the Pacific Northwest. The tapestry of Ron’s life was woven with threads of gold and grace, “A beautiful life well lived and now experiencing joy and peace with God.” I Corinthians 13 exemplifies the way Ron lived his life: “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. There are three things that will endure – faith, hope, and love – and the greatest of these is love.” He will be missed by everyone who knew him, as he contributed so much to our lives.
