Obituary of Jimmy R. Downs

No visitation Jimmy R. Downs Jimmy R. Downs, 75, a 36 year resident of Yelm, died August 23, 2007. He was born December 20, 1931 in Sumner, MS to Reuben and Belle (Nolan) Downs. On July 25, 1975 at United Methodist in Yelm, WA Jimmy married the former Gloria L. Swanson Little who survives. Jimmy served in the United States Navy from 1951 – 1955 during the Korean War and Pacific Rim Theater. He then served in the United States Army from 1955 – 1971. He was a water treatment plant operator at Ft. Lewis, Washington in civil service from 1972 – 1995. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and RV’ing. He was a charter member and trustee of Eagles #4144 in Yelm. Including his wife, Gloria, Jimmy is survived by 3 daughters, Pat Worthley of Windham, ME, Karen Rich and Jennifer Swanson both of Olympia, WA; 1 son, Eric Swanson of Spring, TX; 2 brothers, Harold Downs of Port Haywood, VA and Billy Downs of Colonial Heights, VA; 3 sisters, Eva Carr and Marie Hall, both of Greenwood, MS and Donna Lynn Logan of Horn Lake, MS; also 10 grandchildren.
