Obituary of Boyd Walker Donley

BOYD WALKER DONLEY Boyd Walker Donley, 87, former 67 year resident of Seattle and recent resident of Belfair on Hood Canal, died Sunday July 5, 2009 in Bremerton. Mr. Donley was born November 25, 1921 in Colville, Washington to Levi Boyd and Mildred (Bowns) Donley. He served with the U. S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific in WWII. Boyd was a graduate of Aberdeen’s Weatherwax High School (1940) and the University of Washington where he was a Phi Delta Theta and received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (1948). On June 29, 1946 in Tacoma, Boyd married the former Merwyn Peterson, who survives. He owned and operated an insurance brokerage firm in Seattle, retiring in 1997. He loved University of Washington football having attended games for over 60 years. Boyd enjoyed the activities of family and friends and was well known for his engaging sense of humor and ready smile. He loved Hood Canal, traveling to Maui, and a good game of golf. Survivors in addition to his wife include one son, Robert Donley, and two grandsons, Matt and Kyle Donley all of Ravensdale, WA; and one sister, Patricia Ehrhart, of San Anselmo, CA. A daughter Karen, and a sister, Marvel Stewart, preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the: Karen L. Donley Endowment Swedish Medical Foundation 747 Broadway Seattle, WA 98122-4307 A celebration of Boyd’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196th Street SW, Lynnwood, WA 98036.
