Obituary of Betty Jane Dickison

Betty Jane Dickison of Olympia, died Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Alterra Clare Bridge in Olympia. She was born December 22, 1933 to Chester and Minnie (Murray) Mendenhall in Olympia. On January 30, 1953 she married Donald E. Dickison in Olympia. She had lived in Olympia until she was 52 years old when she and Donald became snow birds between Yuma, Arizona and Anchorage, Alaska until her illness brought them home to Olympia in March of 06. She had been a homemaker and also was the bookkeeper for Dickison Fuel Co. in Olympia. Betty enjoyed cooking, fishing and being with friends and family. She was a member of Easter Star and Children’s Orthopedic Guild. Betty enjoyed being a Cub Scout leader and actively volunteered in Girl Scouts. She also had been a teacher’s helper in Anchorage, Alaska. In addition to her husband Donald of Tumwater, she is also survived by her 94 year old mother, Minnie Mendenhall of Lacey; sister, Carolyn Nielson of Shelton; children, Gregory S. (Josephine) Dickison of Tumwater, Jacqueline M. Baber and her partner, Buster Hammond of Shelton, Gary L. Dickison of Anchorage, Alaska and five grandchildren, Ashley, Erin, Nathan, Bryce and Jessie. Memorial contributions are suggested to Children’s Orthopedic Hospital in Seattle. Betty was well loved by all that knew her and she leaves many friends and family.
