Obituary of Gary Harder

Gary Harder was born and raised in Olympia, Washington. He passed away on January 29, 2018 in Olympia. Gary graduated from Saint Martin College with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked several different jobs during his life time, from working on planes at Boeing, to his time working for the railroad. He eventually retired from the State of Washington, Dept. of Utilities and Transportation. Gary enjoyed classic cars, square dancing, and helping others. He was a member of the Olympia Lion’s Club and was a volunteer on Lake Fair floats and at Olympia’s train depot. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Estella Harder; his former wife, Wanda Harder; and his stepson, James Renick. He is survived by his wife, Frances Harder; daughter, Anne Yarbrough, and husband Joe; daughter, Marla McElliott, and husband Martin; son, Steve Harder, and wife Loretta; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Service Information:

A memorial service to honor Gary’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at South Sound Manor, 445 North St. SE, Tumwater, WA 98501. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that people take the time to do something for someone else – just as Gary would have continued to do if he were still with us.
