Obituary of Kenneth Ray Dean

Kenneth Ray Dean, 65, a 35 year resident of Shelton, died Saturday, September 18, 2004 at Garden Courte Memory Care Community in Olympia. He was born July 19, 1939 in Burdine, Kentucky to Tema and Ruth (Wampler) Dean. He attended Centralia High School; he was a great athlete in basketball and particularly in baseball. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956 – 1959 spending much time in Okinawa, Japan. He retired from Simpson Lumber in 2001. He married Marie Rood Dean July 20, 2004 in Olympia. Ken was an avid fisherman and enjoyed collecting fishing memorabilia; he also had many hours of entertainment with his aquariums at home. He loved watching the mariners and many other sports too. He is survived by his wife Marie; 2 sons, James Dean and Jason Dean; 2 daughters, Ruth Foote and Denise Neal, all of Shelton; 5 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; and 2 brothers, Larry Dean (Laurel), of Olympia, Bobby Dean, of Olympia. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 26, 2004, at the Masonic Center, 521 North St. SE, Tumwater. In lieu of flowers please make donations to your favorite charity.
