Obituary of Mildred Dawson

In Loving Memory of Mildred Dorothea “Dottie” White Dawson 1933 - 2012 Dottie Dawson passed away on March 29th at her home in Lacey, WA after a long illness with Lymphoma. Dottie was born on February 14, 1933, to Mr. and Mrs. H William White of Mercer, PA. She graduated from Mercer High School in 1951. After high school, she attended Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA to prepare for a career as a Registered Nurse. Dottie completed that training in 1954 and began her work as a Registered Nurse at the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh. She met her future husband, Donald R. Dawson, at an Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship meeting in Pittsburgh in 1955. At that time, Don was a student at the Pittsburgh-Xenia Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh. They were married on December 29, 19957, in Mercer, PA with the ceremony conducted by Dottie’s brother, the Rev. H. Walter White. Dottie and Don have five children, Donald Bradley Dawson of Long Beach, CA; Diane Lynn Dawson/Friot of Spokane, WA; Jonathan A. Dawson of Spokane, WA; Dawn R. Dawson/Pell of Lynnwood, WA; and David Paul Dawson of Seattle, WA. They also have 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Dottie enjoyed traveling and was able to travel to various locations as she accompanied her husband, Don, as he served as a U.S. Army Chaplain in various parts of the world in many locations in both Asia and Europe. Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, H. William and Mildred White; an older sister Martha White Stevens; a younger sister Louise Angliss; and her brother the Reverend H. Walter White.
