I worked with Rich at L&I for many years. Everytime I saw him, no matter what he was faced with, he always had a smile on his face. Depsite all the obstacles he was faced with, he never made a negative comment, he only spoke postively about life. His physical presence will be greatly missed, but his spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family.

To Rich's Family and Friends.....I got to know Rich best during our years at Lakeridge Lutheran in south Seattle. We went all through Luther League and confirmation together. I especially remember the few times times Rich called me late in evening needing a ride to Children's Orthopedic to receive blood. I remember following him around in the depths of the hospital as he greeted everyone he saw like an old friend. He endured all his procedures like the rest of us would get a flu shot. His attitude was always positive and his disposition cheerful. No matter how badly he was feeling, he was a pleasure to be around. We'd lost touch over the last years, but Rich has always remained in my heart and mind the model of a person who attacked head-on the problems that life deals out with vigor and dignity. He's now in the loving arms of our Lord.

My heart goes out to all of Rich's family members. The picture of Rich is exactly how I've always and will continue to remember him. He always had a smile on his face. I don't think I ever saw him in a bad mood in school. He was always eager to help with everything whenever the choir went on a field trip. Whether it was moving equipment or warming up. I can remember how we always held our breath whenever he was moving equipment because we were afraid he'd cut himself. He was obviously more brave than we could ever dream possible. Keep on singing Rich.

To the Davis family, I am sorry to hear of your loss. I knew Richard in Lakeridge Elementry School and lost direct touch as the years past, but I never forgot the determined zeal at which he approached a life that continually fought against him at every turn.
My heart goes out to those that had him in their lives on a daily basis, year after year, living in his light.

Dear Megan; I only just realized this morning, after seeing the obit, that Rich Davis had been living in Olympia since 1981! You see, I attended Renton high school and became friends with Rich through our mutual love of music. We were both members of the A'capella choir and the swing choir. I remember Rich as a boy who was unfailingly cheerful and upbeat, in spite of his health problems. I especially remember the barbershop quartet and the beautiful harmonies that the boys would weave (I can still hear the lyrics of "Chicagotown"). They were a great bunch of guys and Rich was ever the heart and center of the group. My deepest sympathies to you and your girls, I know you'll miss him terribly.

Megan, Gwen and Georgia, We are truly saddened to hear of Rich's passing. He has always been a smiling inspiration to our family as have you and your daughters. Although it is rare in the last years that we have seen all of you, we have always thought of you lovingly. Michael remembers when both he( maybe 6 or 7yrs. old) and Rich were sporting arm slings due to whatever the current bleed was, and Rich taught Michael how to hide the food from the buffet in the sling to have as a treat later on at the event.
Please accept our deepest sympathies and know that you are all in our prayers. Much love.

I am so sorry I never knew Rich better, but it was clear even from a distance that his will was stronger than his body. I remember seeing him in the wheelchair and then rising up renewed after the hip replacements. That was when I first spoke to him, telling him "You look great on two feet!" He grinned and told me jubilantly about the hip replacements and how good it felt to be free of pain and moving so well. I got the powerful impression that Rich was a man who reached for joy, reached OVER and THROUGH all the challenges and then held that happiness close even as he was sharing it. It was so immediately clear that here was a good, loving, wonderful man who lived and loved 100% and wasted absolutely none of life. I am so sorry he has had to go, but know how blessed you were to have had him. Take good care and know that he will be with you always.
