Obituary of Bernice E. Curtiss

No visitation Bernice passed away on November 27, 2006 in Gig Harbor, Washington at the age of 86. She was born on December 17, 1919 in Agate, Washington to John and Nancy (Riffe) Bogar. Bernice lived in Elma, Washington until 1964, where she was a member of the Eagles Axilliary #1440 for 63 years. In 1964 she moved to Milton, Washington, where she resided until 1974. She lived in the Rochester, Washington area until 1993. The remainder of her life was spent in Olympia. Bernice had many hobbies, which included sewing, cooking, and shopping. She never passed up an opportunity to travel or visit family. Her bag was always packed and ready to go. She found great pleasure in raising her children. Her grandchildren spent many school vacations with their Nana. She leaves behind a loving family, including her children Donna Jean Jaynes, Apache Juction, Arizona, Dorothy Mowry, Homer, Alaska, Lorna Eberle (Jeff), Olympia and LaVern (Rose) Farrar, Chehalis. Also stepsons Randy Curtiss, Tenino and Keith Curtiss (Barb) LaCrosse, Washington, as well as 8 grandchildren Dean Gardner, Kirkland, Washington, Dale (Laura) Gardner, Pittsburgh, California, Lisa (Don) Ballard, Puyallup, Washington, Michael (Colleen) Clifford, Homer, Alaska, Emily and Kenton Farrar, and Jesse and Christian Curtiss, and 8 great-grandchildren James and Stephanie Gardner, Kyle and Kayla Gardner, Lacy Luce, Derik Ballard, Breck and Ayrton Clifford. A great great grandson is due in March 2007. One brother, Al Bogar, and 2 sisters, Norma Vance and Violet Bishop, preceded her in death and 1 sister, Dorothy Hart of Hoquiam, survives. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral service. A gathering for a celebration of her life with family and friends will be held on December 21 at 6:00 pm, The Heritage Room, 604 Water Street, Olympia, Washington.
