Obituary of Chris Curow

CHRIS CUROW, 52, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004 unexpectedly at her home in Lacey. She was born in Shelby, Montana on September 19, 1951 to Merton and Joyce Liston. She married her sole mate and best friend, Calvin D. Curow of Michigan on September 29, 1972, who survives. They shared the same birthday, however Chris was three hours older than Cal. Chris returned to school to obtain her dream of becoming a nurse, graduating in 1982 and later returned to become an RN. At the time of her death she was a consulting nurse for Group Health. Helping people was her passion. Chris’ hobbies and interest included the love of animals, scrap booking, ceramics, painting, reading, drag racing and loved playing all sports. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with them especially her grandchildren. She was truly looking forward to the arrival of her third grandchild due in October. Chris was preceded in death by her first child, Sarah, in 1974 and her father, Merton, in July of 2002. In addition to her husband, Chris is survived by her son, Dean E. Curow (Ashley) of Lynwood; daughter, Shawna K. Curow (Christopher) of Lacey; her mother, Joyce Liston of Gig Harbor; brothers, Joseph M. Liston (Beth) of Mt. Vernon, John P. Liston, of Anacortes; her sister, Nancy Howard (Fred) of Gig Harbor; two grandchildren, Tiara Curow and Tyler Ray, both of Lacey; three nephews, Joseph Elliott (Charlotte), Zack Liston and Ben Liston; two nieces, Megan Liston (Ariel), Kristy K. Liston, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was loved deeply by all she touched. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 10, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. at the Masonic Center, 521 North St. SE, Tumwater. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chris’ name can be made to Monarch Childrens Justice & Advocacy Center, 1012 Homann Dr. SE, Lacey, 98503.
