I can still hear your voice aunt Trudy. Saying my name in your sing song voice. Giving me advice I still follow today. I love you so very much. I will miss you always.

My memories of Aunt Gertie are fond and funny ones. She could always be counted on to enliven every family gathering or outing.
Aunt Gertie moved back to the Knoxville area when I was about ten years old. (Until that time, I had known her mainly through the stories my mother told about their days of childhood and all the adventures they had growing up with sic brothers!) When the move back to Knoxville came, I was excited! I'd finally get to know the only "real" aunt I had!
Aunt Gertie didn't disappoint me! She always had a story to tell--sometimes her memories matched Mama's--sometimes they varied in detail. These were the basis of many lively discussions.
Another of my favorite memories is of riding in the car with Aunt Gertie behind the wheel. She was the first driver with whom I'd ever ridden who talked to stop signs, traffic lights, and other motorists! A ride with her to Kay's Ice Cream on Chapman Hwy. was an exciting and side-splitting adventure.
As the years passed, I grew to appreciate the funny lady with the red hair for far more than her wonderful fruit salad and the stories she told. Her visits to our home in Kentucky were always gave me a sense of "family," love and laughter. I am thankful that her life touched mine.

As a distant niece ( I'm the youngest daughter of her brother Alfred) I was still impacted by how wonderful Aunt Gertie was to me when I visited TN. I loved her red hair and the raspy tone of her voice. I carry these memories and more with me today. I can be reached at juballe@comcast.net

Gertie, I love you and want to thank you for your love and kindness you extended to me. You are and will always be my favorite Aunt. I know you loved dogs and maybe you are seeing some of your old pals right now.
Barbara, little sister, you did a good job of taking care of your mom. I know it was very difficult for you. I love you.

I've thought many times about Margaret since she left Knoxville and I have good memories of her. From the time I was little I spent lots of time at her house and she was always good to me. I believe she is now "home" for good and no longer sick. I hope you were able to be with her when she went. My email is marmi1947@yahoo.com and i'll be praying for you (the family) during this time.
