Obituary of Brian Lee Colvin

Brian Lee Colvin Brian Lee Colvin, born July 18, 1948 in Oak Harbor, Washington to Clyde S. Colvin and Dorisjean Mittmann Colvin, passed away November 25, 2011, surrounded by loved ones after a 2 1/2-year-long battle with cancer. On October 25, 1997, Brian married the love of his life, Mary. Together they shared his second love—racing cars, be it stock cars, print cars, figure 8 or drag racing cars. Brian was 1995 Track Champion at the South Sound Speedway. In 1966, Brian enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his first tour of duty in Quang Tri, Vietman, including three months with Medivac helicopters. On January 16, 1968, he transferred to the field attached to Kilo 3-7 of the 1st Marine Division. After military service, he went to college and earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Law Enforcement, after which he joined the Washington State Patrol where he worked from 1963 to 1991. In 1988, he was awarded Trooper of the Year. From 1991 to 2009, he was a truck driver. Brian is preceded in death by his father, Clyde S. Colvin. He is survived by his wife, Mary; mother, Dorisjean; brother, Michael (Nancy); stepchildren, Lyden (Sandra), Lisa, and Anna; grandchildren, Ben, Lia, Tosha, Tawnya, Alvin, and Rebecca; great grandson, Brenton; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Brian’s family would like to give a special thanks to all who were part of his care for all your gentleness, prayers, love and kindness. At Brian’s request, no services are planned.
