We at the Washington Toxics Coalition were so sad to hear of Joe's passing. He was a longtime, dedicated advocate for public health and eliminating toxic chemicals. We are sorry to have lost an important watchdog in Washington, but will continue his work to protect people, water, and land.

Colleen and Family,
Im so sorry for your loss of Joe. Despite his physical disabilities, he was simply one of the strongest people I have ever met. When he believed in something, he let nothing stop him or hold him back, whether it was for veterans, our community, or each of you. He always put others before himself and cared about your well-being more than his own, up until the very end. What a wonderful example of a man, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. You have done so much for me and I will cherish our friendship forever. Look for Joe on the faces and in the laughter of one another, and in the continuing efforts and progress of things he was passionate about in our community and world. You had your very own Super Man! Wishing you love, friendship, strength, and peace - Jeri

Being a military family, you move around a lot. We have been stationed many places but never have been welcomed to an area like we were when we moved here. We rented a house and the landlord told us about this great guy that lived right behind us. Joe made us feel welcome right away. He was a great guy just to talk to and he will be missed. Our thoughts are with the Cole family.

Coleen, My heart broke to hear that Joe passed away. Justin loved him deeply and talk about him and your family all the time. It is amazing to me that Justin entered eternity just a few hours before Joe. I beleive he was called to be with Jeremy so that when Joe arrived he would be greeted by two of his sons (and I'm sure that they are not only in the presence of the Lord but creating some mischief as well. I truly appreciate your family and we are praying for your family as well. Blessings to you. Kathy Adams. PS - Jeff, thank you so much for being such a great friend to Justin. He loved you deeply.

My heart and prayers go out to Joe's family. I had the pleasure of knowing Joe over the past 19 years. I always appreciated his comments and concerns about the County and the health of the people in it. Joe was always a pleasure to have at our Commission meetings and he always had some good information for us to work with. I have missed him over the past few years. It was always good to talk with him. I truly appreciated what he did for the citizens, and often I relied on his information to get others to look into matters or to try and correct things. Again, I know you will miss him, but so will I.

I got to know Joe when my brother Kevin O'Sullivan was ill. Joe was right there with us as we "convoyed" Kevin from Olympia to the UW Hospital. Joe was a good man who made a lasting, positive impression with me. In fact, we talked about the possibility that we are distantly related through the Cole family. My sincere condolences to Joe's family. Dan (Cole) Sullivan

I am saddened by Joe's death but will remember his strength and love and passion. There are few people in life that have the drive that Joe had for what he believed to be right and the path that he took to fight for those rights. I will always respect him for that and am a better person for knowing such as Joe. You are forever in my heart Colleen and my prayers are for you at this difficult time. We will be forever connected in a special way. Love you Liz
