9:30 am - 11:00 a.m. Sat. October 24, 2009 South Sound Manor Prior to the funeral Marjo Beth Cherry “Jo” passed away at home in Littlerock, Washington. She was born on October 29th, 1940 in San Bernadino, California. Her parents were Vernon and Edna Elliott. She had two sisters, Kay and Linda. She grew up in Pasadena, Eaglerock and Santa Ana, California. She graduated from Santa Ana High School. She was married to Bill Cherry for 28 years; they resided in Tustin, California. She became a widow in August 1994. In 1999 she moved to Washington state to be near her sister Linda Boyd and her family. Marjo was a waitress extraordinaire for 35 years in California. In Washington she became interested in and loved antiques. She worked for Homespun Antiques and then Lighthouse Antiques of Olympia, Washington. She thoroughly enjoyed her job (not to mention playing Sudoku) and loved all her co-workers and many friends at Lighthouse. Marjo was a talented artist, pastels being her favored medium. She loved to teach her nieces and nephews aspects of drawing and art. She adored flowers and was an excellent gardener and flower arranger. She also loved to watch birds as they came to eat the seeds she supplied them. She loved animals and was very knowledgeable regarding facts about birds, bugs, fish or any animal you could name. Marjo went on many trips with her sister Linda, their primary destination being Southern California to see family and go to the beach. She loved to swim in the ocean with her sister Linda, playing and riding the waves. She also loved weekly lunches out, as they enjoyed food together, big time! Marjo was fun to be with and made you laugh. She was so funny. She loved to laugh – a lot! Marjo is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Linda and Roger Boyd of Littlerock, Washington; her nephews and their wives Steven and Sharyl Mathews of Anaheim, California, Jason and Lucinda Boyd of Rochester, Washington, Sean and Kristy Boyd of Littlerock, Washington, Robert and Shawna Boyd of Tumwater, Washington; her niece Kimberly Brennan of Olympia, Washington; Aunt Jo Foley of Elfrida, Arizona; Aunt Phyllis Davis of Cardiff By The Sea, California; and many great nieces, nephews and cousins. Marjo’s greatest Love and Joy was her relationship with Jesus Christ, and she was looking forward to being with Him. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26)
