Obituary of Samuel E. Haigh

Samuel E. Haigh, 72, folded his last hand in Shelton, Washington, on November 20, 2016 due to a stroke. He was a beloved brother, brother-in-law and uncle who will be greatly missed. Sam was born October 28, 1944 in Lennox, California, the youngest son to Gwynne (Pederson) Haigh and Ernest C. Haigh, who preceded him in death. He graduated from El Segundo High School in 1963, attended Olympic Community College, was honorably discharged from the Army’s Armored Tank Division in 1968, and retired from Washington State Labor & Industries Department in 2005. Sam was an avid card player who hated to miss a game of pinochle at the Shelton Elks and Senior Center. He kept in touch with his friends and family via the telephone and was well-known for his jokes and stories. He had a giving heart and was always generous with both friends and strangers in need. Sam was a dedicated supporter of the Turning Point in Shelton. He is survived by his sister, Deanna Haigh of Shelton; brother, Ron Haigh and sister-in-law, Janice (Blake) Haigh of Shelton; nephew, Blake Haigh, wife Patti Mally-Haigh, and great-niece, Kayla Haigh of Stevensville, Montana; niece, Keri Jo (Haigh) Harp, husband, Hannibal Harp, great-niece, Cordelia Harp, and great-nephew, Elijah Harp of Edgewood, Washington; nephew, Ryan Haigh, significant other, Sydney Leverette, and great-niece, Mackenzie Tharp of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
