Obituary of Carl Jeffrey Cederholm

None Carl Jeffrey Cederholm (June 30, 1943 - August 15, 2006) Loving husband and father, Jeff passed at home with his family on the afternoon of August 15, 2006 after a three year battle with brain cancer. Jeff Cederholm, dedicated 34 years of his life protecting wild salmon through his research at the Department of Natural Resources and by educating the next generation of biologists and policy-makers through his graduate study classes at The Evergreen State College. Jeff’s concept of the Kennedy Creek Salmon Trail started as a sketch on a napkin. He envisioned an outdoor classroom to teach school children and the general public about the salmon's habitat and life cycle. His research and adventurous spirit carried him to many destinations including Japan, the Yukon, and the British Isles. Before his death, Jeff was chosen to receive the American Fisheries Society’s prestigious Carl Sullivan Award, which is granted for outstanding achievement in protection of the fish resource. His wife and family will accept the award on his behalf in September at Lake Placid, NY. As a Massachusetts native, Jeff’s dream of witnessing the Boston Red Sox win the World Series came true in 2004. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Katie; his children, Kelly Lindseth, Stephanie Cederholm, Jeff Cederholm, Heidi Cederholm, their spouses and three grandchildren of Olympia; his parents, Carl and Eleanor Cederholm of Vancouver, Washington; and his siblings, Kathy Nichols, Robert Cederholm, and John Cederholm.
