Obituary of John Mooney Carras

John Mooney Carras, 77, died after a short illness. John was born in Seattle on February 23, 1928 to Jessie and Gust Carras. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Imogene; four sons, Greg (Jeanne), Chris (Marge), Stephen (Sudawan) and David (Kimberly). He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, also Missy, his cat. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy. After high school, he served with the U.S. Army in Japan. Upon returning home, he entered Central Washington University, graduating with a degree in chemistry. He later obtained his degree in civil engineering at the University of Washington and spent 27 years with the Department of Transportation for the State of Washington, retiring in 1982. He had many hobbies, including hunting, fishing, bridge, cribbage, poker and spoiling cats. His most often enjoyed activities were reading, cooking and coupon shopping. John and Imogene made several trips to Europe, including Greece, his father’s homeland and also Scandinavia, before settling down in their bayside home. John will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends here, in Arizona, in England and Norway, plus relatives in Greece.
