Obituary of Winnifred Carpenter

No visitation Winnifred Upham Carpenter Winnifred Upham Carpenter died on Sunday November 7, 2010 at her Lawrence Lake home in Yelm, Washington, joining her husband Charles "for a big party up there". She was born in 1918 in Seattle. She married Charles in 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska. After WW II, they lived in Portland, Oregon. Starting in 1964 the family traveled on assignments to Panama, Chile, Lebanon, and Botswana. In the mid 1970's, they retired to Yelm Washington . They had 9 children: Chuck (Sandy) of Tacoma, Mary Slawson (Paul) of St. Helena CA, Don (deceased), Margaret Montgomery (Bill) of Hanover NH, Dan (Lani) of Olympia, John Pat (Jill) of Yelm, Mark (Linda) of Rancho Mirage CA, Anne of Yelm, and Lisa Macht (Bob) of Port Orchard. She is also survived by 20 grandchildern, 19 great grandchildren, and 6 great, great, grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to The Timberland Regional Library Foundation at 415 Tumwater Boulvard SW Tumwater Washington 98501. The family has scheduled a celebration of life for December 19, 2010 at 2 PM at Lake Lawrence Upper Lodge, 15948 Lawrence Place SE, Yelm, Washington 98567.
